"And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."Deuteronomy 6:6–7 (ESV)

A wise parent once humorously said, "Before I had any children, I had a few theories about child-rearing. Well, now I have a few children and I don't have any theories about child-rearing." If anything makes parents feel their need for Jesus, raising children does. The world that our kids are growing up in is a far different world that we grew up in, and it is certainly not for the better. When parents see the vileness of the world around us, everything in us wants to just draw our kids in close so they won't be damaged by the world (maybe in ways we ourselves were damaged growing up). It's also been said that children often don't do what we say, but they almost always do what we do. That's why we need each other! As a church, we believe that Scripture teaches that God intends for His people to be a covenant body. This means we take seriously our resonsibility to help each other as we raise our children in the nurture and admonintion of the LORD. We are in this together.

“The world is rated R, and no one is checking IDs. Do not try to make it G by imagining the shadows away. Do not try to hide your children from the world forever, but do not pretend there is no danger. Train them. Give them sharp eyes and bellies full of laughter. Make them dangerous. Make them yeast, and when they’ve grown, they will pollute the shadows.” ~ N.D. Wilson
